Trailer for Adam Wingard’s You’re Next looks like the horror version of Home Alone

The horror home invasion pic YOU’RE NEXT released some cool-looking posters recently and has generated some good buzz from the festival circuit (here’s our review from Fantastic Fest).  Based on this trailer, it does look like a lot of fun and feels very distinctly like HOME ALONE meets THE STRANGERS, which is kind of a cool concept.  It’s as if the good guys get to win for once!  Maybe.  I have yet to see the film, but I’m definitely intrigued by what I’m seeing so far.  Personally, I find horror films with a more formidable “victim” to be much more engaging than just the endless slaughter without any kind of fight.  YOU’RE NEXT looks like something more my speed.

The film is directed by Adam Wingard, who has made some waves with V/H/S (and will likely do so with its sequel V/H/S 2) and has a dark, spooky, and violent vibe that should make for some good late night scares.

When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped… until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.
