Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain renewed for a second season

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

While there hasn't been an official announcement from FX yet, it looks like The Strain is a go for season two. The first 13-episode season filmed in Toronto from September 2013 to late April of this year and according to Global News, the cast and crew will return to Toronto this November. Since the series premiered in July, it hasn't exactly caught on like wildfire, but the audience has grown slightly each week. Given Corey Stoll's involvement with ANT-MAN, I imagine he'll either finish up his shooting before this November, or The Strain will just work around his schedule.

While the pilot for The Strain didn't blow me away, I'm still invested enough to sit down and continue on with the rest of the first season. Fortunately, it looks like the show has been consistently good thus far (you can check our review of the latest episode here). After the hiatus Guillermo del Toro was on way back when he was supposed to direct THE HOBBIT films, I love how busy he's staying nowadays. Next year we have the film CRIMSON PEAK coming our way, The Strain looks like it will continue, and for you game enthusiasts, he's working on the next Silent Hill video game with the legendary Hideo Kojima (of Metal Gear Solid fame). Lots to look forward to!

The Strain airs Sundays at 10 pm on FX.
