Shannyn Sossamon and James Ransone lead Sinister 2; synopsis revealed

The horror movie sequel SINISTER 2 starts filming next week and Shannyn Sossamon has joined the cast as the new lead. She stars alongside the returning Deputy (without a name) from the first movie James Ransone. We know that original director Scott Derrickson (DELIVER US FROM EVIL) isn’t returning but he did re-team with SINISTER co-writer C. Robert Cargill to write the script. The director this time around is Ciaran Foy, who directed CITADEL which I’m told is pretty awesome.

Here’s the official synopsis for SINISTER 2:

In the aftermath of the shocking events in Sinister, a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of Wayward Pines) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death. James Ransone, who portrayed the concerned sheriff’s deputy in Sinister, will be reprising his character in Sinister 2.

Creepy twins? Well that’s just great! I can’t wait to watch this with all the lights on. The first SINISTER had some pretty scary moments, so I hope they keep that as number one on their agenda of things to repeat. I’m still on the fence as to whether this deserves straight to VOD treatment or not. The trailer will answer that I’m sure, but how does it sound so far?
