Casting Round-Up with Damian Lewis, John Krasinski, and Jason Statham

Hello Nurse!

Not sure if that ANIMANIACS reference fits, but that’s what I felt like saying after seeing the photos of these actors. Now I’m just picturing Jason Statham in a ladies nurses uniform. I’m sorry if I’ve ruined your evening.

Now since I’ve brought him up, let’s talk about what good ol’ Stathey is up to. Apparently the action star is eyeing a role in Paul Feig‘s female lead spy film, SUSAN COOPER. The actor has met with Feig, who seems to definitely be directing now. If he is cast, then Statham will play an agent on the same team with Melissa McCarthy, who will play a not-so-great secret agent. Hilarity ensues! I’ll take Statham in a more comedic capacity.

Let’s move on to John Krasinski. I will try my damnedest not to talk about my mushy feelings toward the actor. But you’ve seen THE OFFICE, right? Those faces– Nope. I’m doing it. Gotta stick to the topic at hand.

Krasinski is in talks to join Cameron Crowe‘s untitled romantic comedy formerly known as DEEP TIKI. The film revolves around “a defense contractor (Cooper) who falls for an Air Force pilot (Stone) after he’s assigned to oversee the launch of a weapons satellite from Hawaii.” Kinda kooky, huh? It’s Crowe, so it’s good in my book. If only I could get him to hire me to help with the soundtrack.

In the flick Krasinski will play “a military man married to McAdams, who is playing Cooper’s ex-wife.”

Last but not least, Damian Lewis will go from HOMELAND to QUEEN OF THE DESERT with Nicole Kidman.

Lewis is set to play, “Lt. Col. Charles Doughty-Wylie, an unhappily married English war hero who engages in a turbulent affair with Gertrude Bell (Kidman), with whom he exchanged love letters with from 1913-1915.”

The film focuses on Bell who was an, “iconic explorer, writer, archeologist and attaché for the British Empire who is credited with helping to catalyze the formation of the Middle East at the dawn of the 20th century.”

Production will begin in December.
