Mean Girls director Mark Waters set to helm Bad Santa 2

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

When bringing Billy Bob Thornton back for a BAD SANTA sequel, you might as well recruit a director who has a “mean” history of their own.

Mark Waters, best known for directing MEAN GIRLS, has landed the gig to helm BAD SANTA 2 for Broad Green Pictures and Miramax. The FREAKY FRIDAY filmmaker will lead Willie Stokes through the next chapter of his life, but he won’t have to do so alone, getting some familiar help for the long-desired follow-up.

Tony Cox, who played Thornton’s partner Marcus, and Brett Kelly, forever known as Thurman Merman, have also closed their deals to reprise their roles from the original, putting the band back together for this film the way we wanted it.
