Rob Zombie and Bret Easton Ellis team up for TV series on the Manson Family

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I wouldn't say Rob Zombie is a "fan" of Charles Manson, but he did sample a Mason family member's voice for one of his songs, and has the Manson X carved in his head when performing with his band. Clearly Zombie was inspired just a little bit by Charles Manson, and now he'll be directing a television series involving the Manson family.

The Wrap is reporting Rob Zombie and American Psycho and The Rules of Attraction author Bret Easton Ellis will team up for a possible new event series for FOX. The series will focus on different characters, leading up to the grisly murders ordered by Charles Manson and carried out by his family members in 1969. The project is still in the very early stages of development though, so things could always change. Ellis will write the script for the series, and he'll also be executive producing with Rob Zombie.

This is the second musician to recently join forces with the Bret Easton Ellis. Earlierr this month we learned the novelist is also working on a new project for Kanye West.

A series on the Manson family is definitely in Rob Zombie's wheelhouse, and while some absolutely hate his films, I think he's more hit-or-miss. I haven't seen THE LORDS OF SALEM yet, however I did enjoy HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and THE DEVILS REJECTS. His HALLOWEEN movies though? Yeah, I don't want to talk about those.

People have always been fascinated with Charles Manson and his family, and I could see a new series about them doing very well on television. It'll be interesting to see how Rob Zombie handles the material, and hopefully his f*cking wife won't appear in the series. Look, I'm sure you love Sheri Moon with all your heart Mr. Zombie, but you must know she's not a great actress, right?
