Why do I love movies? Well, that is a loaded question. How much time do you have? I could go into a long-winded diatribe about the art of film-making or the magic of the movies, but all of that has been said countless times before. Not every movie is a masterpiece, but every film has touched me in one way or another. Every other week, we will look at a handful of reasons why movies are so damn great..

CHAPTER IV

I love movies…because CLOUD ATLAS even exists

Because of Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright giving us three slices of fried gold

Because of Will Ferrell’s mustache in ANCHORMAN

Because of the mirror scene in THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI

Because of Morgan Freeman’s final parole hearing in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION

Because of the first thirty minutes of UP

Because of Indiana Jones surviving on the outside of a submarine in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

Because of the bridge scene in RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Because of the origin of love in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH

Because of Hulk saying “Puny god” in THE AVENGERS

Because of E.T. telling Elliot he will be right here

Because of Christopher Walken’s watch speech in PULP FICTION

Because of the final scene in Hitchcock’s NOTORIOUS

Because of the barrel chase in THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG

Because of Gipsy Danger using a ship as a baseball bat in PACIFIC RIM

Because Bill Pullman nails this scene in INDEPENDENCE DAY.

Because of the reveal of Mr. Glass at the end of UNBREAKABLE
