The Tick renewed for season two at Amazon

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The Tick is an uber-powerful, virtually invulnerable superhero who can withstand anything thrown at him, so naturally, he would be able to defeat something as trivial as a cancellation. He has triumphed once again as Amazon has officially announced they have renewed their series, THE TICK, for season two.

The show is currently airing the first season, and Amazon intends to begin production on the new season in late 2018 for a 2019 release, with the season consisting of 10 episodes. The show’s stars, Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick and Griffin Newman as his sidekick Arthur, are all set to return along with the show’s creator, Ben Edlund. Edlund had this to say:

I am so excited that Amazon wants to continue this wildly fruitful collaboration and that this amazing cast gets to stay together, and that we get to build this mythos further, wider, deeper, and taller. We got a good ball of mud spinning with the right tilt of axis, I’m very happy we have this opportunity to keep peopling it.

The show takes place in a world where superheroes are a normal part of society, with The Tick and Arthur hoping to take down an underground criminal organization. They soon discover an old supervillain once thought dead – The Terror (Jackie Earle Haley) – is actually the leader of the group. The first episode debuted on Amazon in August 2016, with episodes 2-6 kicking off August 2017. The show has been on a mid-season break, with episodes 7-12 starting late February. The show has earned rave reviews, currently having a 93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

THE TICK returns February 23.
