Cool Videos: Morgan Freeman alters Shawshank narration for Graham Norton

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION has been so influential over the last 23 years for so many reasons, with one of its bigger contributions being that it gave us "Morgan Freeman the Narrator". His wise, sympathetic and entrancing voice-over has made the man the ultimate narrator, capable of making Twilight on audiobook sound like To Kill a Mockingbird. As Freeman reaffirmed on the Graham Norton show his persona as a gifted narrator all started back with SHAWSHANK, and was asked by the host to re-enact his famous vocal work to describe his feelings for Norton himself, like his character did for Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins). Freeman did so like the master he is without missing a beat, and now all I wanna do is watch the movie. Thank you, Morgan Freeman, and your god-like voice.
