Morten Tyldum to helm Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan for Direct Amazon series

Morten Tyldum, director of THE IMITATION GAME and the recent Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt interstellar romance flick, PASSENGERS, has signed on to direct the first episode of the upcoming straight-to-series-drama TOM CLANCY’S JACK RYAN for Amazon. The series will come from Lost duo and co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and writer Graham Roland.

The action-drama will star actors John Krasinski as the Baltimore-born government agent, Jack Ryan, and Abbie Cornish as Cathy Mueller. JACK RYAN will tell the story of Jack Ryan, a gifted CIA analyst who is then forced into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. As the series continues, Ryan will uncover a pattern in terrorist communication that places him at the center of a dangerous artifice with a new breed of terrorism that threatens to be the cause of destruction on a global scale. Dan Sackheim has been signed to the project and will direct several episodes for the series, which will be co-produced by Paramount TV and Skydance TV and executive produced by Cuse, Roland, Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form, as well as Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross, along with the movie franchise’s producer Mace Neufeld and Lindsey Springer of Carlton Cuse Prods.

You can expect to hear more news about TOM CLANCY’S JACK RYAN as things progress. Until then, we’ll just have to imagine what manner of time-sensitive hijinks John Krasinski will get up to after stepping into the role of Jack Ryan, a character whose series of books have appeared on The New York Times Best Sellers list at least eleven times in the past.
