Go behind the legend with the trailer for the documentary I Am Chris Farley

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It's a real testament to the legacy Chris Farley left behind considering we still remember his sketch comedy and films, yet the man was only in the spotlight for about 7 years. He was a member of Chicago's Second City Theatre before being thrown into the cast of NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live in 1990. Less than 2 years later he would make his first film appearance in WAYNE'S WORLD. He would go on to play various other characters before headlining his own picture with TOMMY BOY in 1995, and in '97, he was gone.

Having died from a drug overdose at the age of 33, one can't help but make a comparison to another comedic legend who died at the same age for the same reason; John Belushi. Regardless, generations who were never even breathing when he was alive continue to enjoy his work, and now we have a documentary to help scratch the surface of what was going on with Farley behind the cameras. Check out the trailer below.

I'm not too sure how "behind-the-scenes" this documentary will really go, but at the very least, it looks to be a decent memorial to one of the funniest comedians to have ever lived. There's no denying the energy Farley put forth, and it's a shame the man felt the need to turn to drugs to deal with his issues. If anything, maybe up and coming celebrities will heed the warnings that the likes of John Belushi and Chris Farley left behind.

I AM CHRIS FARLEY will be released later this year.
