Tracy Morgan & Luke Wilson will be shitheads in Macon Blair road comedy

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

The road comedy is a worn-out genre filled with fish-out-of-water gags and moments where the tone is, “Oh brother! Now what are we gonna do?” Just hearing “road trip comedy” is enough to make you wanna pass out, but when the title of the movie is THE SHITHEADS, and it stars Tracy Morgan and Luke Wilson, it may just be enough to perk you up.

Yes, that title and cast are real, and the duo will star in the upcoming road comedy from director Macon Blair, whose recent I DON’T FELL AT HOME IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance this year, and is currently streaming on Netflix. The movie is about two unqualified nimrods that are hired to take a teenage millionaire to rehab, and the film’s announcement says that, “Mayhem and general shenanigans ensue but it has not been confirmed at this time whether or not important life lessons are also learned.”  The movie is also being described as “THE LAST DETAIL by way of Bret Easton Ellis.”

If that wasn’t enough to entice you, the movie is also being executive produced by Danny McBride, Jody Hill (director of OBSERVE AND REPORT) and David Gordon Green. Other executive producers Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas have called Blair’s film “hilarious and harrowing.” Enticed now?

Well, I am indeed thoroughly enticed, not just by the title and cast, but because of everyone behind the scenes as well. Blair did a great job with HOME IN THIS WORLD, and the whole prospect of making this more of a dark and unique take on the genre is refreshing, to say the least. I'm always game for a new take on the pissing-in-a-bottle gag.

Check out I DON'T FEEL AT HOME IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE on Netflix now.
