Michael Sheen, Eiza Gonzalez, & Sam Heughan join Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot

I suppose the FAST & FURIOUS series can't last forever (or can it?), but Vin Diesel could be grunting his way through another potential franchise in BLOODSHOT, an adaptation of the Valiant Comic of the same name. With production hoping to get underway later this summer, BLOODSHOT is beginning to fill out its cast and Variety reports that Eiza Gonzalez (BABY DRIVER), Michael Sheen (PASSENGERS), and Sam Heughan (Outlander) are in talks to join up.

BLOODSHOT will find Vin Diesel starring as Ray Garrison, a mortally wounded soldier who is resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and tasked with rounding up superpowered outcasts known as harbingers. With his memory wiped, Garrison struggles to recall his former life as well as come to terms with the type of living weapon he's become before setting out on a path of bloody vengeance. It's not known just who Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, and Michael Sheen will be playing, but I've got money on Sheen stepping into the role of some sort of eccentric (perhaps evil) doctor who had a hand in creating Bloodshot. The project is said to be similar in tone to films like ROBOCOP, THE TERMINATOR, and TOTAL RECALL, which certainly sounds good to me. Dave Wilson, a longtime collaborator of Tim Miller (DEADPOOL) as well as the creative director at Blur Studios, is set to make his feature directorial debut on BLOODSHOT which has been scripted by Eric Heisserer (ARRIVAL).

Eiza Gonzalez will next be seen in Robert Zemeckis' THE WOMEN OF MARWEN and Robert Rodriguez's ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL later this year, with Sam Heughan popping up in THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME alongside Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon on July 6, 2018. As for Michael Sheen, well, the prolific actor has a handful of new films on the horizon, including Gareth Evans' APOSTLE and Robert Downey Jr.'s THE VOYAGE OF DOCTOR DOLITTLE.
