Brawl in Cell Block 99 Vince Vaughn

Remember BONE TOMAHAWK? That awesome western/horror in which Kurt Russell's mustache set out to rescue a group of captives from cannibalistic cave dwellers? Well, S. Craig Zahler, who wrote and directed BONE TOMAHAWK, is back with another flick which will hopefully prove to be just as surprising: BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99. The upcoming film stars Vince Vaughn as a former boxer who finds himself in prison after a drug deal goes sideways, where, and I'm just spitballin' here, there's a good deal of brawlin'. RLJE Films recently snagged the North American rights to the film and will release BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 on October 6th. Here's some photos from the movie.

BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 will make its debut at the 2017 Venice International Film Festival, before continuing on to the Toronto International Film Festival as well as Fantastic Fest. Starring Vince Vaughn (HACKSAW RIDGE), Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter), Marc Blucas (Underground), Udo Kier (IRON SKY), and, oh yes, Don f**kin' Johnson (DJANGO UNCHAINED), the upcoming film follows Bradley (Vaughn), a former boxer who loses his job as an auto mechanic and finds his troubled marriage about to end. "At this crossroads in his life, he feels that he has no better option than to work for an old buddy as a drug courier. This improves his situation until the terrible day that he finds himself in a gunfight between a group of police officers and his own ruthless allies. When the smoke clears, Bradley is badly hurt and thrown in prison, where his enemies force him to commit acts of violence that turn the place into a savage battleground." Sounds potentially awesome to me, and a good vehicle for Vince Vaughn to showcase something a little different.

In a statement, RLJE Film's chief acquisitions officer Mark Wald said:

With the announced Venice, Toronto and Fantastic Fest premieres, the verdict is in. S. Craig Zahler has done it again. Considering the success of Bone Tomahawk and the stellar performance by Vince Vaughn, we couldn’t be more thrilled to reunite and bring BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 to audiences.

BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 will hit theaters on October 6, 2017.
