The first trailer has been released for David O. Russell's JOY starring Jennifer Lawrence as the titular character, and while there are a bunch of shots from the film, it's one of those teasers that doesn't really tell us much about the movie. I'm not really complaining though since it's still a solid teaser, and that's why we have synopses, right? The upcoming dramedy also features Lawrence's SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK co-stars Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, as well as Edgar Ramirez, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Elisabeth Rohm and Isabella Rossellini.

"My name's Joy, by the way."

Synopsis:

JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces.

David O. Russell hasn't made a bad movie yet in my opinion (ACCIDENTAL LOVE doesn't count), and I wouldn't be surprised if Jennifer Lawrence lands another Oscar nomination for her performance in the film. What are your thoughts on this first look at JOY?

JOY is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day 2015.
