West and Shatner star in the new Batman vs. Two-Face animated film trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Holy pop culture cross-pollination, Batman! Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment are bringing the late Adam West and STAR TREK's William Shatner together to voice the title characters in the full-length, animated feature film, BATMAN VS. TWO-FACE.

To be presented as a sequel to BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADER, the all-new animated film finds the 1960s versions of Batman and Robin tasked with protecting Gotham City against the malevolent split-personality villain Two-Face. The adventure unfolds when Two-Face begins staging a daring crime wave across Gotham. Upon his madcap crime spree placing Gothamites in danger, the Caped Crusaders must work double-time to discover Two-Face's mysterious secret identity before they can halt his evil-doing – all the while combating the likes of Catwoman, Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Bookworm, Hugo Strange and King Tut!

Sadly, this film will mark the final voice-acting performance by Batman himself, Adam West, for Warner Bros. and DC's animated offerings. It's also worth noting that this project represents only the second time that both West and Shatner have contributed to a project together. In the past, the two legedary actors got together for ALEXANDER THE GREAT, a television series that never saw the light of day after the pilot failed to impress.

Returning to the animated Batman front will be two more cultural icons from The Dark Knight's past, with Burt Ward set to star as the Boy Wonder, Robin, and Julie Newmar as the ferociously diabolical Catwoman. Other members of the voice cast include Jeff Bergman (Joker, Bookworm, Desmond Dumas), Sirena Irwin (Dr. Quinzel), Thomas Lennon (Chief O’Hara), Lee Meriwether (Lucilee Diamond), William Salyers (Penguin), Lynne Marie Stewart (Aunt Harriet), Jim Ward (Hugo Strange, Commissioner Gordon), Steven Weber (Alfred, Two-Face henchmen) and Wally Wingert (Riddler, King Tut).

LEGO DC COMICS SUPER HEROES – JUSTICE LEAGUE: COMIC CLASH's own Rick Morales will direct the animation from a script penned by Michael Jelenic (TEEN TITANS GO!) and James Tucker (TEEN TITANS: THE JUDAS CONTRACT).

Special features to be included with the release are as follows:

“The Wonderful World of Burt Ward” (featurette) – Spotlighting Burt Ward’s life away from acting – particularly his many benevolent activities, and his lifelong devotion to the health and welfare of dogs.

Adam West Tribute Panel/2017 Comic-Con International 2017 – At the 2017 Comic-Con International in San Diego, a panel celebrated the life and times of the late Adam West, the legendary “Bright Knight.” Fans laughed, cried and cheered as actress Lee Meriwether (Catwoman from the 1966 Batman movie), director/writer/actor Kevin Smith, actor/radio personality Ralph Garman, producer James Tucker and moderator Gary Miereanu captivated the audience with anecdotes and tales about Adam West.

Actors Burt Ward and Julie Newmar discussing various aspects of their lives, ambitions and inspirations.

The all-new Batman adventure will be made available on October 10th via Digital and on October 17th as per the Blu-ray release. Additionally, a Combo Pack will also be released, if you feel the compulsion to own the film in multiple formats.

Holy awesome news, Batman! For what it's worth, I think that BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS is one of the best DC animated films releaed in years, and I can't wait to see what they have planned for this villain-filled follow-up!
