Aquaman teaser trailer description plus bits on Wonder Woman 2 & Shazam!

CinemaCon 2018 is underway and lots of info, first looks, trailers etc. are flooding out of the Coliseum at Caesar's Palace as each studio takes the stage and shares what they have to offer in the next year and beyond. Warner Bros. put on a hell of a show, as usual, with the DC films being a staple in their upcoming slate, which includes AQAUMAN, SHAZAM! and WONDER WOMAN 2. Here's the nitty gritty on what was shown from each, including a detailed trailer description for AQAUAMAN.

WONDER WOMAN 2 – Nothing by way of footage was shown here, minus reference comic book art that including Cheetah, who will be played by Kristen Wiig in the sequel. Patty Jenkins appeared in the reel, talking about the film with the most significant piece of info being the confirmation that the sequel will take place in the '80's, which should give the character some time to breathe without having to fit into the post JUSTICE LEAGUE world…yet.

SHAZAM! – Having just been on the set last week and having to remain mum about everything, it was cool to see some of that stuff shared with the public. While we didn't see any actual footage, we saw a ton of behind-the-scenes and some concept art. First up, the costume; there's been a lot of whining about how the costume looks from some cell phone shots, but up close and on the big screen it looks perfect. It's the right fit, aping the New 52 iteration of the costume and ripped right from the page. The lightning crest on his chest lights up and has a glowing effect that really enhances the look. The suit has texture and lines that fit the standard superhero mold (much like Superman's costume in the DCEU) and really couldn't be more true to its origins.

The key pitch for SHAZAM! is "BIG with superpowers" and that sounds about right for telling Billy Batson's story. We see Asher Angel as Batson and hear him yelling Shazam! as well as Zachary Levi in costume and performing numerous stunts, one of which involves a city bus. Levi is obviously having a blast with the role and has the energy, humor and presences that one would imagine a 14-year-old in a superhero's body would feel. There was also a bit of concept art that shows Shazam! at a winter carnival, flying above it and a scene of him at a convenience store with a kid filming him with his phone confronting some robbers with a big smile on his face. We also got a look at Mark Strong's Doctor Sivana, decked out in a suave, leather-ish costume and utilizing some "force-like" powers tossing cops away from him. It's really got the ingredients for a special entry in the DCEU and I look forward to sharing my set visit info when I can, but for now, take this little tease as your first indicator.

AQUAMAN – The superhero film that's got the buzz swelling like a killer wave is AQUAMAN and fans are dying to get a look at the hero in action for his solo film after getting a full intro in JUSTICE LEAGUE. Director James Wan, Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II all showed up for the presentation and talked up the film before Wan reluctantly showed a first look at the teaser trailer. I say reluctantly because he made it clear that the effects weren't finished. However, there was plenty in there that was and it ended up being a perfect tease. With that, here's the highlights and description of what we saw and heard in the teaser. Note, the dialogue is in order, but the scenes are random from memory as we only got one look at it.

Prior to the trailer, we got a look at a few quick shots of Aquaman fighting a bunch of black-clad foot soldiers on a submarine. Aquaman dispatches and tosses them around. At one point a sword is brought down toward him and he catches it with his hands (think THE CROW).

"I can't believe you're finally here…"

"There's so many stories about you…"

– We see Arthur in an Atlantean submersible with Mera, headed toward Atlantis.

"You've come all this way to take sides against your own people." – Orm

– We see glimpses of various Atlantean soldiers, some riding armored sharks and Sea Horses, also armored.

"There are no sides in this war." – Aquaman

"Welcome to Atlantis…Arthur" – Orm

– We see a flurry of shots of Atlantis. It's like an underwater Star Wars city, beautifully lit with Atlantean submersibles flying around, as well as more of them on various sea creatures. It's visually striking and huge in scale.

"My brother has come from the surface to challenge me for the throne." – Orm

– We see Atlanteans at a coliseum-like location in Atlantis, crowded around for a show. Orm is in the center, wearing his silver armor, including the helmet and carrying a spear. Both Orm and Arthur circle each other in the arena, about to battle. We get some shots of both of them fighting, Orm seeming to have the upper hand.

"Call it whatever you want. I call it an ass whoopin'." – Aquaman

– We see Aquaman and Orm in each other's faces. Orm has his helmet off and is rocking longish, white hair, pulled back.

"I solve my problems with my fists. I'm a blunt instrument. I'm damn good at it." – Aquaman

– We see shots of Aquaman kicking more ass on the submarine, punching a bunch of bad guys. We then see him get under the submarine and push it out of the water.

"You are part of something deeper. Something that will be destroyed unless you help us. Billions will die." – Mera

There are shots of Arthur and Mera traveling around the world, from sand dunes to Atlantis. There's a sequence from them in Italy, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, in some sort of chase.

"You have to forget all teachings of the surface world. Go deeper. Uncover your Atlantean instincts." – Vulko

– We see Willem DaFoe's Vulko, wearing darkish Atlantean armor and looking very serious in stature.

"Go home, Arthur. You are not going to win this. The war is coming to the surface and I'm brining the wrath of the Seven Seas with me." – Orm

– At some point we see a man sitting on a throne with a golden TRIDENT (not the Quindent that Aquaman is currently using in both JUSTICE LEAGUE and here). We also get glimpses of various creatures from the Seven Seas, including Goldfish-looking creatures, freaky, monster-like creatures (who are attacking a fishing vessel as Aquaman fights them into the ocean)

– We see a shot of BLACK MANTA walking menacingly towards us in full costume. Costume straight from the comics. Black suit with giant helmet with glowing red eyes. It's absolutely perfect.

– We see Orm leading his massive army, which includes Atlantean submersibles, riders on various sea creatures, etc. all heading in one direction under the sea, looking like a space armada about to attack. Underwater we see a massive battle taking place and then see one of the oversized creatures move in on an Atlantean soldier and open it's giant, sharp-toothed mouth and swallow him.

Title Card: AQUAMAN

So, that's everything I could remember from watching it only once. Remember, that any of this is subject to change prior to the actual debut, so bear that in mind.

AQUAMAN opens on December 21st, 2018, SHAZAM! opens on April 5th, 2019 and WONDER WOMAN 2 opens on November 1st, 2019.
