New Shazam! set photos show Levi squaring off against Strong’s Dr. Sivana

A new batch of behind-the-scenes photos from the production of New Line and DC's SHAZAM! have appeared on the DC Fans United Facebook page that not only give us our best look yet at Zachary Levi's superhero costume, but also show evidence of an altercation between Levi's Shazam! and Mark Strong's villain, Dr. Sivana.

You can take a look at the new photos below:

SHAZAM! which is currently shooting a portion of the action in the bustling city of Toronto, Canada, tells the story of an orphan child named Billy Batson, who after coming into contact with a mysterious and powerful wizard, is granted the ability to transform into an adult superhero with godlike powers.

Here is the film's official synopsis:

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out.  In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard.  Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them!  Can he fly?  Does he have X-ray vision?  Can he shoot lightning out of his hands?  Can he skip his social studies test?  Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child.  But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”

For now, the movie is being billed as something of a family action comedy, with DC looking to show audiences the lighter and more fun-loving side of their superhero universe. Do you think SHAZAM! will have the power win big at the box office? Will little ones be looking to suit up as Levi's character come Halloween? Will the film mark the start of a bold, new direction for the DCEU? Let us know what you think about how the film is shaping up, so far, in the comments section below.

SHAZAM! is scheduled for an April 5, 2019 release.
