Pacific Rim: Uprising featurette shows of some new footage

In a few months, we’ll venture back into the world of robots smashing monsters, monsters munching on robots, and humans just kind of standing over there. PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING showed off its colorful and energetic trailer about a month ago, and now it’s time to go behind the scenes in this featurette, which shows off some new footage of robot bashing and character moments. John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Rinko Kikuchi and director Steven S. DeKnight, are on hand for some interviews, but who cares when there are giant creatures smashing things? Stop talking! More smashing!

Here is the plot synopsis for the flick:

John Boyega stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.”  Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld.  But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)—who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war.  As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.

The first trailer certainly promised the kind of action we all want from this flick, but I wasn't all that in love with it. Something about it seemed very hyper-stylized and almost cartoonish. But that's just a trailer, and the end product will probably be much different. The movie still looks like an entertaining time, and I like the first film enough to know at the very least the film will be good for some expensive destruction and colorful chaos.
