There weren't too many "scoops" coming out of the Cannes Film Festival this year, but thanks to a kick-ass French schmoe by the name of 'Mat', we have come to discover Quentin Tarantino announcing his next film as the one that we've all been waiting for over 5 years now: INGLORIOUS BASTARDS! Tarantino took part in a beach-side TV interview (what else in Cannes?) which you can check out HERE (mind you, it's in French, but you can hear him responding in English under the interpreter), but needless to say, being from Montreal, Canada, I was able to decipher what all was being said. More or less, here's how it went down. You heard it here first, kids.

Host: What are the next films that you are going to be making? We're hearing KILL BILL 3, KILL BILL 4, which one is it?

Tarantino: The next movie I'm doing is my World War II movie. I just finished up the first draft and if ALL GOES WELL, I will be here, in Cannes, in 2009 with INGLORIOUS BASTARDS!

I'll be seeing this...
... movie later in the summer, but's called Tropic Thunder, and Ben Stiller directed it. Looks pretty good too.

Yay!
More movies from everyone! Let us have more of directors making the movies they want to make and less of Internet nerds stating their opinion like its FACT. Let everyone do what they want to do and if you enjoy it, great. If you don't, oh well better luck next time. If Tarantino wants to remake a WWII movie, let him. He isn't forcing you to watch it. He isn't going personally come 'round your h...

He isn't going personally come 'round your home and beat you if you don't like it. So let there be room for everyone and something for... uh... everyone.

Peace.

while he's at it, why don't he rape my childhood memories by creating a sequel to True Romance, I only have a tattoo of it on my body, why don't you make me regret it- you selling out FUCK.

We heard this before... Also, I'm not sure how he'll do with a period piece.

its a happy tarantino christmas
It's a blow-it-out-your-ass fantastic news! I don't appreciate all of his facets, his dialogs does tend toward the overlong and unrealistic- kind of like Frank Miller- but apart from that he's a creative GENIUS of leftfield warped action sequences and plot-twists. And a WAR movie by this man is just mindboggling...

No big deal!
Easily the most overrated director around. I'm bored with QT's overlong, dragged-out films. He peaked with Kill Bill Vol.2 and tanked with Deathproof. He also needs to stop giving himself roles in his films. QT - you're a terrible actor and quite unattractive to boot. Of course, I'll check out Bastards if it ever does get made, but as studboi69 said, 'with a grain of salt'.

Whatever
I take this news with a grain of salt, given all the BS's that's been spewing out of QT's mouth. I'll believe it when I see a trailer.

This is cool and all, but Tarantino is a tool and we all know it-- he is all talk. I don't believe a word of this. I'll hit the lottery before QT has Inglorious Bastards ready for Cannes next year.

Meh, Not a Tarantino fan outside of Kill Bill Vol 2. From what I get from this movie, it seems like the same thing we see from older war movies. But he'll put in a bunch of pop culture references. Now, I like pop culture, but the way he delivers it, I have never really liked.

i would have finished the headline with... going to be announced and re announced for a couple more years. And then we'll see one of the many projects this crazy man has eloquently described. Sure we've been waiting for like 5 years for this one... but really...

come on. in any case... i look forward to it.... especially if he gets the cast he was talking about
