Terminator fate update

What the hell is happening with TERMINATOR?

Halcyon Holding Group, the company who currently holds the rights to the franchise expect to close the auction on February 1, 2010. Back in November, we brought news that Halcyon was in some serious debt after making the TERMINATOR SALVATION game. In enough debt, that they decided to auction off all the rights to the highest bidder.

The company has released an update on their current status: “Over the past few weeks, Halcyon and its professionals have engaged in in-depth discussions and negotiations with numerous serious potential buyers, including several major movie studios. In addition, a number of attractive refinancing alternatives have also been presented. In order to maximize the value of a transaction for all of the company’s creditors and stakeholders, we are fully analyzing all these options.” Fancy. In other words, they want a decent chunk of change, even though they bought it for only $25MM. It would be nice if they didn’t just give it to any jackass that puts up the most money. But business is business, I suppose.

Originally, Halcyon said that by November 20th, they would set the minimum bid for TERMINATOR assets, which includes future films, television series, DVDs, and merchandise. However last Thursday, they said that it would not be a part of the process.
