The Host is every inch a masterpiece in the realm of monster movies, though King Kong is still probably the reigning master there.
Having said that, I think that while a sequel could be done well, I don't understand where there could be room for a prequel in a world that seemed appropriately baffled by the appearance of a giant man-eating prawn. You'd think if anything like this happened before, they would've mentioned it somewhere during the first film. |

HOST THIS !!
you guys got me, its not even april 1st yet...the host a "masterpiece"? to funny...what a piece of carp, er, i mean crap that was.
an overhyped waste of celluloid. seriously, theres something fishy here about a giant codfish terrorising some screwed up family, and an allegory about government it is not, how high must you be exactly to enjoy this flick?
i went to see this at a theatre (im so sorry to myself) with a friend (im so sorry for him also) that enjoys cinema, and we expected a korean masterpiece slash horror/comedy of epic proportion...and got a dud of a flick, boring, cheesy and awful.
scary? not in the least. funny? i think i laughed once. enjoyment factor? high, upon leaving this crap.
dont waste your hard earned cash on this whale of a mess. and a "sea"quel? makes me shiver with dread. |

MASTERPIECE
"The Host" isn't just a monster movie masterpiece, it's a masterpiece. A brilliant monster movie, but also political allegory, social comment, and human drama. But I'm not too high on exploiting the success of the film for sequels... |

I (American) saw The Host with 3 Koreans and a Canadian. The Canadian and I didn't really care for it all that much and thought it was VERY over rated. The Koreans loved it. Go Figure. |

HMM...
I'm looking forward to the prequel, not so much for the American remake...
