This again? Eva Longoria as The Wasp in The Avengers? Nathan Fillion still on for Ant-Man?

UPDATE: Longoria-Parker has no idea what anyone is talking about and says it's just an internet rumor. She told SuperHeroHype this, "I keep hearing about that. I think it’s an Internet rumor as of now… I love comics stuff. I do, I think it's fun, but I don't know anything about that character. I don't know who or what that is." Now we're back to this rumor again.

Fox 411 is exclusively reporting that Eva Longoria-Parker is very close to becoming The Wasp aka Janet Van Dyne in THE AVENGERS.

The source for Fox 411 is claiming that Marvel is trying to finish casting the characters for the film and that Longoria-Parker is an actress they've had come back several times. "Marvel is in negotiations with Eva and she is just right for the role," said the source. "First, she read for the part, then she went into the studio for camera tests. The team liked her for The Wasp so much that she did green screen work in the late spring. She's perfect in size and attitude. Eva is cute, sexy and full of energy for the part. The character is a bit like Gabby, her character on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES." This rumor started awhile back when Longoria-Parker was spotted with one of THE AVENGERS comics at the airport.

Another possible addition to THE AVENGERS came up and that was fan favorite, Nathan Fillion for Ant-Man. The source said this as well, "Nathan Fillion, a favorite of ["Avengers" director] Joss Whedon is set to play Ant-Man," our insider said. "Ant-Man is married to The Wasp in the comics. They would be a dynamic duo - both are hilarious and together they will have great comedy and chemistry. It's a win-win if Eva can tie up the role."

Marvel has already denied these reports.

I am all ready for Fillion, but Longoria-Parker does nothing for me acting wise. If I want fall asleep I'll go watch something with her in it. As far as all this news is concerned, I think Fox just wanted something huge to report on so they just dug up an old rumor. If these two get cast all of a sudden then I'll bite my tongue. All I ask is that they stop dicking us around about Fillion as Ant-Man. Either do it or quit teasing us!

she was (she's dead in both comic lines) an asian only in the "ultimate" line of marvel, in the regular line she whas caucasian

fillion is...
perfect casting for antman, eva...meh, she's smokin, but so are a lot of other women, and others who can act too. they should get jessica alba, then that would destroy any chance of a ff4 sequel. other studios just fuck up marvel's proprety.

Glad this is just a rumor. She's an okay actress and all, but not for something like this. I really, really hope Nathan Fillion gets to be Ant-Man. He would be great mand really deserves a big role like this.

I think the idea of seeing a live action Avengers movie is pretty damn cool. However, it has the potential to be a really epic clusterfuck. This isn't an X-Men film, where it's always been about the team effort. This is ABOUT a group of individual heroes. I realize the conflict and drama ARE pretty much the story, but with decent-sized casting such as this for MINOR roles, it's getting to...
I think the idea of seeing a live action Avengers movie is pretty damn cool. However, it has the potential to be a really epic clusterfuck. This isn't an X-Men film, where it's always been about the team effort. This is ABOUT a group of individual heroes. I realize the conflict and drama ARE pretty much the story, but with decent-sized casting such as this for MINOR roles, it's getting to be too much. I know Ant-Man and Wasp are original Avengers (or I think?), but they're not leads like the others. I was comforted by the thought of Hulk being the villain and the other three -- CA, Thor, IM -- trying to control him or something. That would cut down on a lot of exposition for peripheral characters.

I really hope they aren't planning to skimp on story just because each of the main players has his own film already. They should try to write it as if someone hasn't seen the original, uh...five movies, right? With Iron Man having two...?

When Whedon was asked about Fillion he said no, but I feel like he was saying that until Fillion is signed. It would make sense as Fillion has worked with Whedon before.

I thought I had read somewhere that this was nothing but a rumor. She said she had no idea she was being considered for the role. Well if it is true I would be open to it. Not to mention who doesnt want Fillion finally cast as one of our heroes!
