Tudyk fights Evil Jul. 8, 2009

While he's surely developed a fanbase (particularly those fond of coats that are brown) from his droll pilot Wash in Joss Whedon's "Firefly" and SERENITY, Alany Tudyk has been great in plenty of other secondary roles in movies like A KNIGHT'S TALE, 3:10 TO YUMA and DODGEBALL (yarr).

Now he's stepping up to the front to literally take on badness in TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL, an indie horror-comedy already shooting up in Calgary. Tudyk and Tyler Labine ("Reaper") play "two good natured hillbillies who are mistakenly accused of being psycho killers by a group of college kids camping at the same lake where the hillbillies have just acquired a dilapidated cabin as their summer home."

The movie, from writer-director Eli Craig, also features foxy young "30 Rock" regular Katrina Bowen. Tudyk will next be seen in the remake of the alien invasion series "V" and (presumably) on the next season of the mystifyingly renewed "Dollhouse".

Extra Tidbit: Tudyk "played" the robot Sonny in I, ROBOT.

Death At A Funeral was still my favorite with him in it. Also, he's a kick-ass, creepy serial killer in Dollhouse as well.

I know it was alluded to at the end of this article, but Tudyk's performance on "Dollhouse" as the villainous Alpha was phenomenal! For those who didn't see it, his character started out as neurotic, showcasing Tudyk's talents as a comedic actor, before taking a dark turn. His portrayal of pure evil was perfect and he gave the character depth and nuance. As much as I enjoy him in comedic roles (love him on Firefly), "Dollhouse" proved his talents as a dramatic actor. I know I certainly have a higher opinion of him after seeing those episodes.

Can't wait for this film, and Tyler Labine can be very funny too!

Like all the Firefly gang, a great actor who deserves more success than he's received so far. Hope it's a good flick that makes bank at the box office.

You can consider me part of the Firefly Tudyk fanbase. He's a funny guy and this kind of things sounds like a great opportunity for him to show off his skills. Can't wait.
