Uninvited trailer Oct. 2, 2008
Source: IGN
by: Dave Davis

Uninvited

The remake of the Korean spooker TALE OF TWO SISTERS was announced so long ago that I nearly forgot about it (the rights were originally optioned in early 2004), but it's finally coming in January under the title THE UNINVITED.

Despite the "dead zone" dump (although January has become an increasingly profitable time for horror releases), the movie has an impressive cast, including Elizabeth Banks, David Strathairn and that strangely pretty girl from LEMONY SNICKET, and at least it seems to be sticking fairly close to the creepy original.

The movie revolves around two teen sisters who return to their father after a stint in the nuthouse, only to deal with a wicked stepmother and a house full of freaky ghosts. Check out the trailer at IGN.

Extra Tidbit: The movie has no relation to the Korean horror film actually called THE UNINVITED.

It also has no relation to the 1944 haunted house film THE UNINVITED, based on the novel by Dorothy McCardle (SP).

NOPE.
I won't support this. I don't care about bringing the story to a wider audience. Tale of Two Sisters is one of the best horror films of all time. This will be bad, and discredit the original. Next time, please try something original.

I'm so confused! I really feel that if they kept out the ghost side of this story it would be much scarier. The atmosphere and the acting looked spot on and I was starting to get into it but the second the trailer introduced the ghost side-plot it took me out of the story. Idk, I'll hold out for more marketing before I decide whether I want to see this.
