MTV have been seeing some cool stuff at the New York's Licensing Expo, and the latest is pretty sweet too. Of course, there's no guarantee that all of these films are even going to be made, I guess. But still, it's pretty cool to see. Particularly THE AVENGERS, no?

Now, it doesn't happen often, but I actually do have some semi-insightful to say about the topic at hand. Who knows, maybe we can have some interesting debate here. Lord knows there are enough of you out there smarter than I am, and who love to argue with me.

I saw THE INCREDIBLE HULK today, and it kind of made me slightly more amenable to the idea of not bringing Jon Favreau back for IRON MAN II. Now, I need to make it clear that I think Favs did an amazing job, that ought to warrant the opportunity to direct the sequel. I mean, box-office numbers alone -- IRON MAN is a massive success by anyone's standards.

However, I did feel that THE INCREDIBLE HULK was a better movie. And also a better movie-going experience. And that's with Edward Norton and Tim Roth's characters being - in my opinion - infinitely less entertaining than Robert Downey Jr and Jeff Bridges'. How much of that is script-related, I don't know. IRON MAN is slick, pretty beautifully so, but I though Leterrier did a better job with the HULK material. In particular, the first time that Banner becomes the HULK -- that was real, real nicely done. I loved IRON MAN, but a big part of what I disliked about it was the final, should-have-been-epic, battle scene. I felt like the movie used the suit's weaker power-source as an excuse for a shorter, less exciting ending, whereas HULK closed so, so strong.

Anyway, I'm not saying I don't think Favreau should be back. On the contrary, I wholeheartedly think he should, and what's more, I think he has earned it. I'm just saying that after the outrage I felt when I first heard there were doubts about his return, I kinda don't feel so strongly anymore. And if I had a vote for THE AVENGERS, I'd probably give it to him. If nothing else, he seems like he is really passionate about doing it, and that he knows the material.

Also, the talk about him being shafted over money? That I still think is ridiculous. That dude earned a big fat pay-check, guys!

Extra Tidbit: Ok, let's see what you think!

Besides that, excited about all of them (yup, even "Thor"). I really don't like the fact that Fav might be off "Iron Man 2", but if he is, as madfeebles said, give him "The Avengers." And maybe I'm alone on this one, but seriously, enough with the fucking Ultimate Universe crap. Gimme 616 any day of the week.

They should skip the Thor movie and just have him introduced in the avenger’s movie. Don’t really see a big market for a Nordic god movie. It will be a big hurtle for marvel.

Who's gonna play captain america, that's the big question. Some say Matt Damon's a good choice. I don't know. Whoever is chosen it should be some with acting chops, and some decent skills in the action department. If only Bruce Willis was ten or twenty years younger. damn.

Bruce Willis should have been Nick Fury though! AM I RIGHT!?

I'm looking forward to Hulk, and have been since it was announced. Marvel is doing a great job and I trust them over directors right now. Honestly, the script, and the actors are what matter here, and Marvel seems to be doing a great job of old school producing. Spiderman 3, Daredevil, Elektra, and the original Hulk sucked because the directors were given control over the "vision" of the movies. I'd rather have Marvel as a company controlling that. And I love Favs, don't get me wrong, Iron Man was great because of the Altman-style dialogue, but take him off Iron Man 2 and Give him Avengers. Then he'll have all the time he needs. And please God, use the Ultimate Captain America story line.

They need to focus more on series than on sequals. If they gave hulk a live action series update than it could likely be a serious blockbuster. Iron Man is good but they need to work on creating the mandarin while at the same time not making it too hokey. If they want iron man to be more than a one hit wonder their gonna have to come up with more ideas to establish ironman on a long term basis if they want it to be a solid multi sequal series. As for favearu, he is pretty much just another fish in the sea. There may be better directors down the road. Why play favorites.

From the sound of things that we are hearing its looking that way and that is really, really disheartening. Marvel has a obligation to deliver THEIR properties faithfully and well done to theaters and the only way they are going to do that is to find talented guys like Favs and Letteier to do that. They can't just get a taste of the money they would make making a fan friendly comic movie like Iron Man and then decide that they are going to throw the entire thing out the window just to make cash, then they would cease to be Marvel Studios and just become a Fox clone. I refuse to see something that we, as fans have been waiting on ever since we starting getting comic movies just get thrown by thw wayside just becuase some fuckwit is deciding that he actually wants to turncoat and become the very same Hollywood Suit that we all loath so much.

Marvel definitely needs to take their time with the upcoming movies. There's no need to rush them out so quickly. As far as the logo designs go, I like them. They don't need to be flashy, the fact that they are similar to their comic book counterparts shows that Marvel is trying their best keep both die hard comic book fans and action movie fans happy.

Having seen The Incredible Hulk thanks to a print build and some friends at the theatre, I cannot at all agree that Hulk is a more enjoyable film experience than Iron Man. It seemed choppy to me and the effects could have used more fine tuning. Iron Man was, to me, a far more polished and satisfying film overall. In fact, as short as it is, I found myself checking my watch more than once. I didn't hate it, but it just didn't do it for me. Based on the opinions of the others in the cinema, I was in the minority as far as being impressed (or more accurately not impressed).

To keep things a bit more on topic, I hope Marvel takes the time to make their movies properly instead of trying to cash in on the hype and fast tracking everything in sight. Focusing on more and quicker instead of simply making good films could run these franchises right into the dirt. Again, just my $.02.

I'd gladly wait an extra year for iron man 2 if it meant bringing Fav back. I'm not saying someone else couldn't do a good job, it's just that he deserves it more b/c he made the first one what it was. His casting of RD jr. was brilliant, can anyone image a better choice for the role? And he's delaying b/c he wants a quality film, which means alot to the fans of the first film.
