Veronica Mars movie? Aug. 20, 2008
Source: Entertainment Weekly
by: Mike Sampson

"Veronica Mars" was one of those many TV shows that was able to find a devoted cult following but was never able to quite catch on with a wide enough audience to stay on air. But like SERENITY, the movie based off the canceled TV series "Firefly," "Veronica Mars" might be making a trip to the big screen. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that series creator Rob Thomas (no relation to the Matchbox 20 singer of the same name) met with star Kristen Bell to discuss the possibility of making VERONICA MARS: THE MOVIE. Thomas told the magazine that he had a meeting with Bell about the movie and has also had a "few conversations" with uber-producer Joel Silver, who also produced the TV show, about a movie. Thomas does caution fans that he's quite busy with two pilots on the way ("Good Behavior" and "Cupid") but that once those have been launched, a VERONICA MARS movie would be his "top priority." Bell is currently filming Season 3 of "Heroes" and she just recently wrapped her first lead role in a film with the Disney romantic comedy WHEN IN ROME.

RE: MARK_RUMSFIELD
Agreed on the Heroes thing. It was a MAJOR step down for her, especially considering how bad the show turned out to be in Season 2. Sarah Marshall was a good step for her though -- it was a good movie. Some of the best actors do supporting roles, there's nothing wrong with that. I'd rather see her do movies like that than star in bad ones. Naomi Watts often does supporting roles, you know.

PLEASE GOD!
But please wrap up the lose ends of the series, and end the movie with an ending, not a cliff hanger. In fact, the filmmakers should watch Serenity and just do what they did.

MAKE THIS MOVIE ASAP!!!!!!!!!
Kristen Bell is one of my favorite actresses and I loved Veronica Mars, excellent show and one of the best characters in tv history.

So, needless to say, I would definitely see this movie in the theater then buy the dvd.

Kristen Bell needs something of this quality to be in again, because Heroes is a major step down in my opinion. And Forgetting Sarah Marshall was an okay movie, but Kristen Bell should not be playing supporting characters. She's star material, belongs playing main characters in movies and nothing less.

To Mike Sampson, she did have a starring role before in a movie, Pulse. Or maybe everyone's trying to forget that one. I liked that movie a lot though because Kristen Bell was great in it. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea and can understand that. I'm looking forward to When in Rome, it would be cool to see a trailer sometime soon.

I think it would be awesome if Kristen Bell starred in a movie with 2 other great blonde actresses, Naomi Watts and Elisha Cuthbert. Maybe they could all play sisters or something. I'd be there in a second.

I think it would be a great idea. But ive seen where Thomas wanted to take the show and I didn't eally dig the FBI school thing. Maybe it was the cooler colors or something but it was awkward.

HOWEVER!!! If it were a college type movie I could get on bored. I think the third season was weaker for the mere fact that the first two seasons were tough acts to follow.

BUT for anybody who wants to jump on board... Seasons 1-3 are all 20 bucks at Target and Best Buy this week. You wont be disappointed.

PS: Kristen is from the great state of Michigan. Hell yeah.

SPEAKING OF "FIREFLY"...
...where's our "Serenity" sequel?

Ah well, this is good news I guess. I know my sister was really into the show, so she should be excited.

The first 2 seasons of the show were amazing. The third kind of dumbed it down a bit, but I'd love to see a movie bring closure to the series.

It would be quite amazing. That show was fantastic. It really was the second coming of Buffy, though it never did reach the same heights.
