I was one of those that thought the theatrical ending was good. This ending had several things about it that I thought were an improvement, but it still had elements that I thought were very "dumbed down" for the type of film it is. If I HAD to choose between the two I would choose this ending, but it only beats out the theatrical ending by very little.

I don't know. I for one enjoyed the entire original film. I thought it was great.
This clip is good, but I think I liked the more depressing ending better.
