Where's the Kombat? Sep. 3, 2008
Source: Moviehole
by: Dave Davis

Scorpion, Subzero and the various fighting freaks of the MORTAL KOMBAT game series are getting ready to mix it up with the heroes and villains of the DC Comics universe, but it's been a while since they've taken on flesh and blood form (outside of that live-action syndicated show from a few years ago that happened to feature hotties like Jaime Pressly and Kristanna Loken).

When will they return to the big screen, with or without Christopher Lambert? Director "mink" (aka Christopher Morrison) is still attached to direct another flick of punching ninjas and kicky babes, but it's still awaiting the bankroll. As mink tells Moviehole, the producers at Threshold "is working out the financing through a studio and or equity situation ", and basically nothing happens until then.

That includes whether it will be some kind of reboot, if any of the original cast is coming back, or what characters will be involved (please no Johnny Cage). mink also discusses a rather cool-sounding western story called 13 CHAMBERS, which you can read about RIGHT HERE .

Extra Tidbit: I played those first three games so much, I could use random characters and still stomp ass. Ah, the 90s.

We need another MK movie...and this is my wishlist:

1. Rated-R.
2. Cabal should be in the movie.
3. Woo-Ping Yuen as fight coreographer.
4. Save the money for a good script, decent director and state-of-the-art CGI.
5. Hire me as Kano...I once ripped a thurkey´s heart out with my bare hands...no lie. (ok,ok...I was dreaming)

MORTAL KOMBAT WAS THE SHIT...
and i completely agree...please no Cage. I was a Noob Saibot fanboy. i made fools like stupider.

Although its highly unlikely and i mean highly unlikely, they should make a Killer Instinct movie, or at least another game. Sabretooth anyone?

I liked the first movie. Annihilation sucked so bad though. They should make an R rated movie with a lot of blood and fatalities, which is really what set MK apart from other fighting games it should take place between the first and second game, like in Shaolin Monks. And you NEED Johnny Cage!

Annihilation was pretty much the Batman & Robin of the series so just let it die.

FATALITY!

I don't know if I think this should be redone. Or retooled or whatever...I love Mortal Kombat and am so excited over MK vs. DC but another movie...

I can settle with the first one, no matter how bad people think it is.

"Ah, the 90s"

Exactly. MK is a relic of the 90s, and as much I loved the shit out of it back then (I still feel that MK2 is one of the top 5 2D fighters) things just haven't gone so well for it in the 21st century.

The second-to-last thing the movie going public needs right now is another Mortal Kombat movie (with the last being another Friedberg and Seltzer flick).

So, Devastation is still a no-go, huh?
Could have gone with a storyline like in the Shaolin Monks game. Everything is just wait and see....

Why the fuck would you want a MK movie without Johnny Cage? WHAT THE FUCK?

This isn't going anywhere until a name director is interested. I'd like to see a reboot in the style of 300 with Scorpion and Sub-Zero beating the shit out of each other.

I just got done watching the entire Mortal Kombat Conquest series on youtube. It aired when I was 9 and that is when I first began crushing on Kristanna Loken. Despite that show having the shittiest ending EVER...

I'm stoked about a new film. I'm hoping its a reboot, and I'm hoping that can do the franchise justice. It should be Rated R. With some fatalities...

and more Reptile...
