50 out, Crews in?

There was a minor uproar the other day when Sly Stallone announced he’d be replacing Forest Whitaker with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in his manly action flick THE EXPENDABLES.

Now that tiny crisis is past, and for whatever reason is no longer cause for concern. Sly has informed AICN that the role will instead be filled by indisputable badass Terry Crews.

Crews has been gaining plenty of traction since leaving the NFL behind, popping up and leaving an impression in movies like FRIDAY AFTER NEXT, BAADASSSSS!, THE LONGEST YARD, HARSH TIMES and GET SMART, and as the father figure on TV’s “EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS” — but many will know him best as the esteemed President Camacho from IDIOCRACY.

He will, of course, be joined in the flick by writer-director-star Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Charisma Carpenter, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Crews will play an Expendable named Hale Caesar (not a federal agent, as I had initially believed), and will next be seen in TERMINATOR SALVATION.
