A good glimpse at Hugh Jackman in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables

Based on this picture, I’d say that Hugh Jackman definitely looks the part of one of the miserable.

For those of you unfamiliar, LES MISERABLES begins with the nineteen year harsh imprisonment of Jackman’s character Jean Valjean for stealing some bread, and I think it’s a fair guess that this shot comes from somewhere in that sequence.  Based on this picture alone the wardrobe, hair, and makeup people have done an absolutely bang-up job transforming Jackman, and I find myself intrigued enough to be curious for more from the film.  On a side note, it seems that Claude-Michel Schönberg, composer of the musical which LES MISERABLES is adapting, has written an entirely new song for Jackman.

Set to release on December 7th of this year, LES MISERABLES is directed by Tom Hooper (THE KING’S SPEECH) and stars a host of other talent besides Jackman that includes Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, and Helena Bonham Carter.
