Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien: Resurrection coming to 4K Blu-ray in 2022

Two years have passed since Ridley Scott's 1979 classic Alien (watch it HERE) was given a 4K Blu-ray release (you can pick up a copy at THIS LINK), and now The Digital Fix has heard that the sequels Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien: Resurrection are finally ready to follow it to 4K.

According to the site, the Disney+ streaming service hasn't added the Alien sequels to their Star section yet because the films are currently undergoing a 4K remaster. When they make their debut on the streaming service, 4K Blu-rays will also be released. They hear this release will happen sometime in 2022.

We are trying to clarify what we can expect in terms of the versions of the films included in the set – both Aliens and Alien 3 have highly regarded director's cuts on other formats, so we hope they'll make it to 4K in some way too. We also expect the 4K Blu-ray releases to include new features and footage that has previously not been made available. We're trying to confirm more on this right now.

I don't have the capability to watch 4K myself, but if I did have the tech I would consider the Alien movies to be essentials, so I'm glad to hear fans will be able to enjoy the films in 4K sometime next year.

Written and directed by James Cameron, Aliens was released in 1986. David Fincher directed 1992's Alien 3, which has a script that was cobbled together by Vincent Ward, Walter Hill, David Giler, and Larry Ferguson, among others. Released in 1997, Alien: Resurrection was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet from a screenplay by Joss Whedon.
