An adaptation of Brian Lumley’s Necroscope is in the works?

I don’t like being the “I-haven’t-watched-this-TV-show” guy, but nine times out of ten, I am. This statistic extends to encompass SyFy’s popular FACE OFF. It’s a shame, too, as last night’s season finale had special effects judge Glenn Hetrick announce he will be writing and producing a movie adaptation of Brian Lumley’s NECROSCOPE.

Hetrick has made a name for himself working special effects makeup on such films and TV shows as BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND and HEROES. He’s also responsible for many of Lady GaGa’s bizarro props and costumes. If made, NECROSCOPE will mark his first screenwriting and producing credits.

As for the film itself, the literary popular horror series centers on Harry Keogh, the necroscope, who has the ability to not only communicate with the dead, but call them to his aid, battling it out against vampires, The Wamphyri. One assumes the film will follow the potline of the first novel, a synopsis of which you can find below. I’m personally wondering what NESCROSCOPE fans make of this news. Is Hetrick the right guy for the job? Talk back with your thoughts below.
