As we reported earlier today, director Zack Snyder's zombie movie Army of the Dead will be available to watch on the Netflix streaming service on May 21st, and a trailer for the film will be arriving online this Thursday. While we wait to check out that trailer, a cool behind-the-scenes image has been revealed by Vanity Fair.
It has been said that Army of the Dead will feature some "insane zombie mayhem" and zombies that are "really fast and scary", and you can see one of those zombies in action in the image below… and star Dave Bautista is having to deal with the frightening flesh-eater.
Snyder has described his movie as "no-holds-barred zombie genre insanity". Written by Snyder, Joby Harold, and Shay Hatten, it's an adventure film that takes place after
a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, where a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble: venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.
Bautista is joined in the cast by Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Huma Qureshi, Raúl Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Nora Arnezeder, Matthias Schweighöfer, Rich Cetrone, Garret Dillahunt, and Samantha Win.
Snyder produced Army of the Dead with Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller.
This film is the start of a franchise; Netflix is already working on as prequel that was directed by Schweighöfer and centers on his character Ludwig Dieter, and the anime series Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, which will serve as an origin story for Bautista's character Scott.
