Arnold Schwarzenegger talks Terminator: Genisys

The internet collectively shit its pants when the first official trailer launched for Alan Taylor's TERMINATOR: GENISYS, and rightfully so. It’s a pretty big deal. And although trying to make sense of what in the actual f*ck is going on in the timeline of this movie—it’s like some sort of reboot that is actually a sequel?—it looks pretty damn cool. I was sold the moment Sarah Connor drives a truck through the windows of a department store to save Kyle Reese. The highlight of the trailer, however, was seeing a shotgun-wielding Arnold Schwarzenegger tearing shit up in a leather jacket. And being the badass that he is, Schwarzenegger sat down for a Q&A on his Facebook Page where he spilled some details on the film. Check it out:

Is this a cameo or substantial lead role?

I have the starring role and you see me throughout the entire movie.

Have the years that passed by made it a challenge in acting as Terminator again?

For me to slip into the Terminator character is like riding a bicycle. It is something I could never forget.

How was working with new cast and new director? What do you think of the new stars?

Alan Taylor was an absolutely fantastic, visionary director to work with. And the new cast was so talented, but more importantly, they were so willing to work their ass off to make this a great movie.

During production, how did it feel when you had to place yourself within a scene you filmed back in 1984? attacking your character that would be placed in during post production? Must be weird fighting your old self?

It is absolutely bizarre to fight yourself, but at the same time nostalgic to go back to one of the scenes that really launched my career and experience it again.

TERMINATOR: GENISYS stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Matt Smith and J.K. Simmons. Look for it in theaters on July 1, 2015.
