Avengers: Endgame Breaks China’s pre-sale box office record within hours

AVENGERS: ENDGAME has broken China's pre sale box office records within mere hours, souces say.

In an unprecedented turn of events, AVENGERS: ENDGAME sold one million tickets in China in its first six hours of availability. Tickets for the Marvel blockbuster went on sale Friday, April 12 local time. No film in China has ever reached one million advance tickets sold in six hours.

Even better, ENDGAME topped the first 24 hours of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR within just the first hour of presales. In its first three hours, the latest MCU superhero epic overtook the first seven days of presales on INFINITY WAR. Pretty nuts, right? Especially when you consider the fact that INFINITY WAR holds the all-time presales record of $65M, including $8.9M from its midnights, though it is the record holder even without those. Whereas last year, INFINITY WAR tickets went on sale 21 days and seven hours prior to release, this year, ENDGAME will only have 11 days and 12 hours of presales. Perhaps this is part of the reason for the spike in sales.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME is opening in China on April 24, two days before its launch in U.S. theaters. The fact that the film will open in the world’s two biggest markets on the same weekend has led many to believe it’s a no brainer — ENDGAME will break the record for the biggest worldwide opener in movie history. INFINITY WAR currently holds that record with $640 million, although it achieved that without the film opening in China. INFINITY WAR debuted in the Middle Kingdom with $191 million, so many believe with ENDGAME opening in both countries at once, it could break the $800 million mark in its global debut. We'll have to wait and see.

As for its U.S. release, ENDGAME is expected to get close to or surpass the $258 million opening of INFINITY WAR, currently the biggest domestic opening in history. Have you bought your ticket yet? AVENGERS: ENDGAME hits theaters in America on April 26th, 2019.
