Bill Murray to sing Christmas carols in Sofia Coppola-directed TV special

Bill Murray has always done things a little differently compared to other actors, so I'm not surprised (although I am thrilled) he'll be singing classic Christmas carols in an upcoming television special. In a conversation with Variety, Murray also revealed his LOST IN TRANSLATION director Sofia Coppola will helm the Christmas special.

Bill Murray on his new project:

It’s not going to be live. We’re going to do it like a little movie. It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose…It will have a patina style and wit to it…It will be nice.

In case you're thinking Bill Murray is just f*cking with us, Variety confirmed with Sofia Coppola there are plans for a Christmas special.

We’re working on a Christmas special. Not sure when it will air, but my motivation is to hear him singing my song requests.

They better release Bill Murray's songs from the special for download, because I definitely want them to be blasting from my speakers while I celebrate the holiday season. Unfortunately, there aren't any other details on the project, but sometime soon, we're going to be getting a very Murray Christmas.
