Bioshock movie to inject audiences with terror on Netflix

Prepare to be injected with fear because Netflix is partnering with video game studio Take-Two Interactive and 2K for a Bioshock movie! That’s right, friends! We’re going to Rapture, and you can hear the lumbering footsteps of a Big Daddy in the distance.

Set across multiple dystopian landscapes corrupted by greed and science, the Bioshock video game series blends sci-fi and horror while asking existential and societal questions that bend the mind. Beautifully paced and filled with pulse-pounding action, there’s a mystery to uncover while trying to survive a harsh environment overrun by experiments gone wrong.

The Bioshock video game franchise has sold 39 million copies worldwide across multiple titles, including Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite. Another installment of the franchise is currently in the works at Cloud Chamber.

Throughout the years, multiple entities have attempted to bring Bioshock to screens both large and small. Each project was set up at Universal, one even had Gore Verbinski lined up to direct, with a script by John Logan. That project sank to the bottom of the ocean in 2008 due to budgetary concerns. Another Bioshock movie almost happened with director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, but it was also canceled due to budget and intended rating disputes.

2K will produce the upcoming adaptation with Roy Lee and Doug Davison’s Vertigo Entertainment.

Hot damn! It’s finally happening after all these years! How long have fans been asking for a Bioshock movie? Too long, if you ask me! It’s great to hear that there’s still a desire to bring Bioshock to screens and that they’ll be using today’s advanced effects to make it happen. With Netflix’s Bioshock being set across multiple dimensions (thanks to the stunning conclusion for Bioshock Infinite) this movie could go anywhere! What would be your preferred setting for Netflix’s Bioshock movie?
