Cats/Rise of Skywalker music mashup is puuuurfect

December 20th is quickly approaching and movie fans across the globe know what that means: director Tom Hooper's musical CATS will finally be released! If memory serves I believe there might be a space opera film releasing that day as well. STAR BATTLES? Something like that?

All kidding aside, this past Monday audiences were treated to the final trailer for STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Calling the trailer for director J.J. Abrams latest feature epic, is like saying Anakin Skywalker had a slightly rough initial visit to Mustafar. For this STAR WARS fan it hit all the right notes while offering virtually nothing in terms of plot. John Williams' signature music was on point and gave my goosebumps goosebumps.

As evocative and inspirational as Williams' sample score was, the RISE OF SKYWALKER trailer was clearly missing one key ingredient: music from the musical CATS. Have no fear however, as another Williams, Heath D. Williams to be precise, has you covered. The STAR WARS megafan took to Twitter and proceeded to overlap the final minute of the RISE OF SKYWALKER trailer with Jennifer Hudson's rendition of the classic song "Memory." You can check it out below:

Obviously, Mr. Williams meant this to be all in good fun but I have to admit, the music placement kind of works. While I'm no fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway music from the 80s, it's hard not to love the song "Memory" and Jennifer Hudson certainly has the goods. Those pipes could make angels weep.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER and CATS both scratch their way into theaters December 20.
