Could Guillermo del Toro be planning a project called Heaven Sent that brings together DC’s supernatural heroes?

I read this scoop, changed my shorts, read it again, and changed my shorts again.

I’m sorry if that’s too much information, but at the same time I’m not sorry because this scoop is so good it makes cinematic liibio work in ways I never knew were possible.  Word from what Latino Review vets as a 100% solid source of scoops is that Guillermo del Toro’s work on PACIFIC RIM is such a monster hit with Warner Brothers that the studio is willing to do just about anything it takes to stay on good ground with the genre maestro.  And oh, the beautiful treasure that may soon be born of that desire.

Because further word states that del Toro is parlaying his newfound status into what is best described as “a supernatural AVENGERS.”  Titled HEAVEN SENT, it will combine “all the magical beings from DC Comics in one epic adventure. Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, and Sargon as well as Etrigan the Demon…” A project of this magnitude is of course a ways away, as Warner Brothers’ lawyers have to make sure that the rights for everyone Del Toro wants to use are free and clear (SWAMP THING probably being the one potential hold-out) and then proceed to lock those rights the f**k down.

Despite the massive slate of projects that have del Toro’s name attached, I would imagine that should something of this scope come to fruition we would instantly see del Toro choose it as his next directing project post whatever his commitments are beyond PACIFIC RIM (which I believe to be BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with Emma Watson).  Del Toro has talked about how much he loves these particular comic book characters as early as his director’s commentary on HELLBOY, and I’m sure you could find even earlier instances of their mention in relation to his work should you try and search them out.

But what say you? Would you pick HEAVEN SENT over the other projects he has been attached to over the last few years, or is there something else you’d prefer to see him tackle first should HEAVEN SENT prove to be a real thing? Speaking of which, you can be sure that the first chance press get to speak to del Toro they will attempt to confirm this, so do make sure to check back for more details and/or stone-cold confirmation soon!
