Daniel Radcliffe joins Greg McLean’s survival thriller Jungle

Once again, Daniel Radcliffe is venturing into the thriller genre, after forays into our land with roles in THE WOMAN IN BLACK, HORNS, VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN and the Sundance oddity SWISS ARMY MAN (in which he plays a farting corpse). You can’t deny his post-Harry Potter projects have been interesting – especially for horror fans – to say the least. This time around, Radcliffe will be teaming up with WOLF CREEK helmer Greg McLean for JUNGLE, a story of survival and horror set in the Amazon. It’s also inspired by actual events..

Based on Yossi Ghinsberg’s memoir of the same name, Jungle…

begins as a dream adventure for four amicable, if hastily met, muchileros (backpackers) and quickly becomes a struggle for survival as they unravel under the duress of the jungle. They are an odd mix to be sure: Marcus, the Swiss mystic; Karl, the shady Austrian geologist; Kevin, the well-intentioned American photographer; and Yossi, the Israeli adventurer.
Jungle is the incredible true story of Yossi Ghinsberg’s triumph over the most adverse and frightening of circumstances. It is a tale of survival and human fortitude against the wildest backdrop on the planet.

The last time we wrote about JUNGLE was in 2014, when it was reported Kevin Bacon had joined the picture. It’s unclear whether or not Bacon is still involved. We’re still waiting to see the in-the-can Bacon/McLean team-up 6 MIRANDA DRIVE.

Justin Monjo penned the screenplay. Mclean is producing Jungle along with Dana Lustig, Gary Hamilton and Mike Gabrawy while Todd Fellman will executive produce. Arclight Films is packaging the film and handling worldwide sales at EFM. Shooting begins later this year.
