Doctor Strange 2: Benedict Cumberbatch enjoying collaboration with Sam Raimi

I am extremely hyped to see what director Sam Raimi does with the Marvel movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the sequel to the 2016 Marvel film Doctor Strange (watch it HERE). This is a hype I'm going to have to hold on to for another year, since the movie isn't scheduled to be released until March 25, 2022 – but in the meantime, at least we can get some stray quotes from people involved about the experience of making the movie.

While doing the press rounds for the spy thriller The Courier, Doctor Strange himself Benedict Cumberbatch sat down for an interview with Collider, and even though Cumberbatch said that asking a Marvel question would be a "dead end", since Marvel is notoriously secretive, he did provide a great quote about working with Raimi.

Sam, amazing. He's so collaborative. God, he comes with the baggage of an icon. He's an incredible force, especially in this genre. But he's so humble, he's so nice, he's so appreciative, you really wanna serve him. And boy, when he's happy, you know you've done something right. He's so good at getting you there and getting it there. It's been a very, very collaborative process, this one. Our origin stories, I guess, and obviously the beasts that were the Avengers films to be a part of were a thrill, but you're kind of just along for the ride. You do the best with what you've already got given to do. The second time around, there's a bit more of, 'So, what do you want to do, and how do we go about solving this?' So it feels very creative. Scarily so, sometimes."

This moment from the interview can be seen in the embed below.

In addition to Cumberbatch, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars returning Doctor Strange cast members Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, plus Cumberbatch's Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame co-star Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, and new addition Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, a.k.a. Miss America. Raimi's longtime friend Bruce Campbell is also expected to be in there somewhere.

The screenplay was written by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron. Raimi's frequent collaborator Danny Elfman is composing the score.
