Don’t be robophobic in this new trailer for Robocop starring Joel Kinnaman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson

Well, leave it to Samuel L. Jackson to create a new term for those who are against the ROBOCOP remake. Henceforce, those who are against the remake shall be known as "robophobes" or as simply being "robophobic." I'm joking of course (or am I?), but that's the term ol' Samuel L. drops in this new trailer, which is a much slimmer version than the first one, this new trailer goes more for the concept of the film rather than the story. I suppose that's a trailer's job to an extent, but usually we get some semblance of who the good/bad guys are and what the main conflict is. This is mostly smash 'em up's, which don't look half bad. There will be Internet blood either way, but first take a look.

Are you robobphobic?:

I have to wonder how folks would perceive this film if it didn't have the overpowering weight of Paul Verhoeven's original sitting on its shoulders, because as a standalone film it doesn't look bad, but at the same time, you simply can't take yourself out of the established classic that is the 1987 original. That said, with the cast involved, including Joel Kinnaman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, and Jay Baruchel, I'm more than a little intrigued to see this puppy play out. Nothing can replace the original model, but I'll be happy to take a test drive on the new one.

ROBOCOP opens on February 12, 2014.
