Enter a world without spoken words in the trailer for The Tribe

Life at a new school can be rough, especially when your survival comes down to gang dependance. THE TRIBE seeks to show a way of life that most of us will never experience and if the stakes weren't high enough, everyone is deaf. This is one of those concepts that sounds really fascinating and I assure you, the moment you finish watching this trailer, you'll definitely be checking to see if this flick is playing anywhere near you.

The synopsis is as follows:

Teenage Sergey (Grigoriy Fesenko), a new student at the boarding school, realizes immediately that he must prove himself worthy to be brought under the protective wing of the school gang's leader to survive unscathed. After an indoctrination of harmless initiation pranks and rites, Sergey's new-found clique soon introduces him to their common activities of robbery, bribery and prostitution. At first assimilating seamlessly into his new role in the tribe, he finds himself compromised as he begins to fall in love with his female classmate—and one of the gang's escorts—triggering a sequence of stunningly diabolical events.

The brilliance dealing with a film without spoken words is that you become attuned to every other sound that is made. I found myself even doing it in the trailer, where each hit or step seemed to make a greater impact. As of now, the flick is just hitting New York on June 17 and LA on June 25, but you can keep an eye on this site for further screenings in the summer and fall. Hopefully we'll get to see a bit of a wider release that this film deserves!
