Friday the 13th: The Game shows off 17 minutes of gameplay

Although the proper release of Friday the 13th: The Game has been delayed until later in the year (to allow for the addition of a single player option), certain batches of fans who contributed to the game's crowdfunding campaigns are now being allowed to play a beta version of the online multiplayer scenario.

Now that some fans are starting to explore the game's online world, it's only fair to the rest of us that we should get a more in-depth look at what they'll be  experiencing in there. That look is provided by the folks over at IGN, who have shared a video that follows a player through an entire 17 minute gaming session, from the moment an attack by iconic slasher Jason Voorhees sends a group of counselors scurrying off into the dark woods to the end of the round… And I won't spoil what sort of fate these counselors meet.

The schedule for the game's release is as follows:

Fall 2016: Beta Release including 4 additional beta keys for friends when pre-ordered (Kickstarter Backers will get an additional 4 beta keys for their friends as well)

Spring 2017: Multiplayer Release with Tommy Jarvis and Packanack Lodge as the third playable map

Summer 2017: Single Player Release and Offline AI Bots

Developed with the cooperation of rights holder Sean S. Cunningham, who directed the original FRIDAY THE 13TH, Friday the 13th: The Game features music by franchise composer Harry Manfredini and kills designed by FX legend Tom Savini. Kane Hodder did the motion capture performance that brings Jason to life in the game. Jason's nemesis Tommy Jarvis is featured in the game, with actor Thom Mathews vocally reprising his JASON LIVES: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI role. That film's writer/director, Tom McLoughlin, has also contributed to the game, writing "The Pamela Voorhees Tapes", audio recordings made by Jason's mother that players can collect and listen to to learn more about her history.

If you'd like to get your hands on a copy of the game, pre-orders can be made at F13Game.com.
