Ghost Rider 2, Paranormal Activity 3 and more get MPAA ratings

A big old batch of upcoming flicks have just been branded by the MPAA, so let’s not waste any time and get right down to it!

First up is the shocker: GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE has been given a PG-13, for intense sequences of action and violence, some disturbing images, and language. I was certain this flick was going to be given an R based on the crazy trailer I saw at Comic-Con, but I suppose they found a way to tone down Nevaldine and Taylor’s propensity for the profane and perverse. Besides, PG-13 equals more box office dollars, so maybe it’s not very surprising at all.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 has been given an R (like all the other PA flicks) for some violence, language, brief sexuality and drug use. The demon must smoke a bowl at some point in the film…

Tarsem’s IMMORTALS has also been given an R, for sequences of strong bloody violence, and a scene of sexuality. As long as that scene of sexuality doens’t involve John Hurt…

The Daniel Radcliffe-led remake of THE WOMAN IN BLACK has scored an unsurprising PG-13, for thematic material and violence/disturbing images. Hasn’t Harry Potter seen enough violence in his time..?

Finally, Victor Salva’s thriller ROSEWOOD LANE, starring Rose McGowan (Pictured below), nabbed an R, simply for some violence. An R for “some” violence? That must be some violence! (Hold your applause, please.)

There you have it, another edition of “MPAA Knows Best!” in the bag.
