Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain teased with viral footage

Seeing as how AMC's "The Walking Dead" mid-season finale opened with some huge numbers, there's a good chance you caught a strange little commercial during the show, and it looks like it belongs to Guillermo del Toro's upcoming adaptation of "The Strain".

There really isn't much to go on, but what we do see is two quick clips of a bunch of rats running towards a sewer drain as well as infesting a government building. While a bunch of rats could suggest a lot of things, the text that we briefly see between the clips is most definitely a nod towards "The Strain". The text shown says, "He is here" which is something that is used in the books and the rats also play a huge part in the story as well. There's some word going around that this could be a viral campaign for GODZILLA which is opening in 2014, but I think it's a safe bet to say that this is most definitely for "The Strain". Either way, it's some creepy stuff so dig on it below!

The Strain is a high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, Miguel Gomezand, Natalie Brown and most recently David Bradley will all star.

"The Strain" is scheduled to premiere in July of 2014 on FX.
