Halloween giants fade away! Skyline invades November Box Offices!

With the horror season far behind us (unlike AITH) it looks like the Halloween behemoths are coming to a definite yield to the recent November kick-offs! While there wasn’t a lot horror entries this weekend, SKYLINE, the big /low budget alien event of Fall season seemed to have made some type of mark on this weekend’s Box Office.

SKYLINE opened up with $11.7 million while the two giants, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 and SAW 3D lost more than 50% of the audiences from the previous week. Granted that this is SKYLINE’s first week there has been a half and half reaction to it already. Some dug it, some loathed it. Want a better opinion on the matter? Why not hit up The Arrow’s own review which was more mixed than a bag of skittles. Let’s give this broad a few more weeks to warm up to the public before opening her up for the November success/bomb judgment.

While SKYLINE managed to round up  a few tickets, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 however brought in $3 million this weekend which is pretty much another drop in a full bucket. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 has already grossed $82 million.  Millions people, millions. I don’t know about you but I think that’s enough to keep ol’ Todd Williams and crew busy for a while.

And what of Jigsaw’s finale opus? It looks like the final nail in the coffin has been struck. SAW 3D dropped 64% of its audiences and has only racked up $2.75 million. While the drop is expected for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2, it’s a bit unfortunate that after only 3 weeks SAW 3D is really starting to feel the hurt. SAW 3D has only grossed $43 million thus far too. What do we say  about that folks? Is SAW done like an oven roasted turkey or will there be leftovers for another year? Your call folks.

All in all it’s been a short run for horror this year. We had a bad start in October, followed by a skyrocket into the million mark by PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 and it’s all going to end with a dull, wet sizzle. F*ck this sh*t.
