9 creator Shane Acker teams up with Valve for post-apocalyptic Deep

Do you guys remember Shane Acker's 9? It was an animated flick a couple years ago that featured the loveable characters you see above. It's alright if you don't remember it... I'm here to talk about Acker's next project anyway.

Said project will be titled DEEP and according to Game Informer Acker will be teaming up with Brown Bag Films and Valve on this go-around. Valve is of course the company behind HALF-LIFE while Brown Bag Films is better known for creating short films and children's animated television programs.

All we know about DEEP is that it will be a post-World War III, post-apocalyptic, underwater adventure film. Acker will direct while Valve's Source engine assists with animation, which will allow real-time rendering, and editing, simplified character animation for the film.

That's about all we've got on DEEP right now but I've got to say... sounds like there's some potential here, no? Especially if you dug 9. We'll of course keep our eyes and ears open for more on the project so be sure to check back soon for that.

Extra Tidbit: 9 sported the voice work of Christopher Plummer, Maritn Landau, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Jennifer Connelly (above) and Elijah Wood.
