Adam Scott joins The Twilight Zone for Nightmare at 20,000 Feet remake

Twilight Zone: The Movie

The new version of the classic anthology series The Twilight Zone that GET OUT writer/director Jordan Peele is producing and hosting for CBS All Access will include at least one remake of a classic episode in its first season, and the episode they'll be remaking may be the most famous Twilight Zone tale ever created: Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.

Directed by Richard Donner from a script by Richard Matheson, the original Nightmare at 20,000 Feet starred William Shatner and told the story of

a man, newly recovered from a nervous breakdown, who becomes convinced that a monster only he sees is damaging the plane he's flying in.

That classic episode first aired on October 11, 1963.

Adam Scott, an actor best known for his roles in comedies like STEP BROTHERS, Party Down, Parks and Recreation, and Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, has been cast in the Shatner role in the remake, which has a slightly altered title. This time it's a Nightmare at 30,000 Feet, reflecting the changes in air travel since '63.

Scott has done some genre work before, appearing in HELLRAISER: BLOODLINE, PIRANHA 3D, KRAMPUS, and LITTLE EVIL. He also co-starred with Craig Robinson on the short-lived paranormal comedy series Ghosted.

This isn't the first time Nightmare at 20,000 Feet has been remade. George Miller directed a version of the episode for 1983's TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE. That one starred John Lithgow and featured the creature pictured above.
